[BLOG] 7 Things I’m Kissing Goodbye This Year

Irene Moore
I’m not massively in to resolutions (as a coach I believe we can, if we choose, set intentions to amend our behaviours at any given time not just once a year), but I do believe that the new year is a good time to clear the decks and take stock on what we have achieved over the last 12 months.

I also believe it’s a great time of year to really dig deep and release the things that no longer serve you in order to make room for the things you want to invite into your life.

Here are 7 Things I’m Kissing Goodbye This Year:
1. Guilt
My relationship with guilt is a looooooong and way too complicated one to get in to in any tea detail, but essentially for me it means I struggle to enjoy the things I work really hard for. For me, it’s very much linked to Self Care and the little voice in your head that tells you that you are not worthy of the love, experiences, and opportunities that come your way. Well little voice…it’s time to take a hike.

Goodbye Guilt. It’s been real.

2. Anxiety
This is a biggie for me and of course I know if will take much more longer to release than some of the other points in this post. That said, I feel confident that with the amazing support network I now have in place, combined with my ability to be more open and vulnerable about this battlet I’ll soon be waving anxiety and panic attacks away for good. Work in steady progress.
Arrivederci Anxiety!
3. Superwoman Syndrome
Another HUGE one for me. This is much more of a declaration to self that I need to slow down and take better care of ME sometimes. As a care giver to some family members, the main bread winner, and tireless problem-solver, it’s easy to allow yourself to feel taken advantage of and way too easy to blame others for feeling run down. I’m owning this shiz. 🙂
I’m making space for others to step up and take the lead, plus I now have a kick-ass team in place to help me with the day to day running of business. Plus, I’m (very slowly) learning to let go of the need to control absolutely everything! I’m already feeling more creative and energised than ever and can’t wait to see what the next 12 months hold!
So long, Superwoman Syndrome!
4. Wasted Energy

With so much going on in our big wide world and our little lives, do we really have precious energy to waste on thing/people that don’t matter in the grand scheme? Over the last few weeks I’ve annoyed myself with the things I have let eat up my energy (negative people/situations/stressful projects & situations – so I’m not surprised I’ve needed to sleep for 24hrs over the holidays!

This farewell, is also closely linked to what I spend the bulk of my working day doing. In terms of taking on new projects and clients – if it’s not a “HELL YEAH” in 2018 it’s a straight up “thanks, but no thank you.”

Farewell to Wasted Energy!

5. #SquadGoals

I like having a small circle of friends who I want to really invest my time and energy in – people who truly love and look out for me and one another. I always keep myself open to new connections, but very much see this as a bonus. If it feels forced, too once sided or too much like hard work, then it simply has to go.

 See ya later #SquadGoals
6. Living in My Head

Stick with me now guys! All year for the past several years I have been telling myself that I need to move more. Like most entrepreneurs I spent a lot of time glued to my laptop and have been known to give myself many ‘busy bee’ excuses to not get out in to the open and take regular exercise. As part of my commitment to greater self care I look forward to letting this one go.

7. Playing Small

I am extremely grateful and proud of my achievements but there’s been too many occasions where self doubt, imposter syndrome and self sabotage have left me feeling like I missed out on maximising an opportunity (can anyone else relate?). It’s THE most frustrating thing and still creeps in no matter how seasoned you are in your graft.

The book ‘Playing Big’ by Tara Mohr is a great read for women feeling they may be getting in their own way.

At this time of year I find it so good to reflect and manifest the things we want in out life.

What about you?

Tell me ONE thing you commit to letting go of this year in the comments below?
